Foundation of RIMSON
Risk Managers Society of Nigeria was established as an association of corporate bodies dedicated to the advancement of Risk Management awareness and culture in Nigeria.
Early Development
RIMSON became visible in the Insurance Industry and championed the establishment of Risk Management Departments in most establishments, including some tertiary institutions.
Local Content Initiative
Under the presidency of late Deacon Tola Adepoyigi, RIMSON promoted the Local Content Capacity Building imperative as a critical consideration for insurance Contracts.
Growth & Expansion
RIMSON expanded its membership across all facets of the economy including Insurance, Oil & Gas, Agriculture, Manufacturing, Banking and Finance, Government Ministries, and more.
Centre for Risk Management Development (CRMD)
The CRMD commenced operation and has provided professional development and training in Risk Management to professionals from various sectors including HR, Insurance, Engineering, Marketing and other sectors.

A Legacy of Excellence
The founding fathers of RIMSON were Insurance Professionals with Chief (Dr) Dipo Bailey, past CIIN President and former Commissioner for Insurance/CEO at NAICOM as the Prime Mover. The founding fathers' drive and commitment in berthing a formidable Risk Management Body stemmed from a desire to further entrench the risk management ethos and culture in the insurance underwriting process as well as develop a bedrock for Risk Management as a discipline of its own.
RIMSON soon became quite visible in the Insurance Industry and was known to champion the establishment of RM Departments in most establishments, including some tertiary institutions in the country. It also promoted the Local Content Capacity Building imperative as a critical consideration for insurance Contracts in the early 1990s under the presidency of late Deacon Tola Adepoyigi.

Training & Development
RIMSON in the discharge of its human capital initiatives organizes periodic specialist training programmes, notably in highly technical jurisdictions such as Oil and Gas, Marine and Aviation as well as in contemporary strategies in Enterprise Risk Management, Risk Engineering and provides a veritable platform for professionals to stay in touch and communicate with one another through thought leadership in all areas of Risk Management.
RIMSON is steps ahead in core professional Risk Management Education by the establishment of the Centre for Risk Management Development (CRMD) - the Training, Education and Research arm of the Society. Approved by the Federal Ministry of Education, the CRMD is saddled with the primary responsibility of training and certifying world-class Risk Management Professionals. The Government approved Centre commenced operation in 2016 and has provided professional development and training in Risk Management to professionals from various sectors including HR, Insurance, Engineering, Marketing and other sectors.
